Camp McDonald #1552 is a camp in the Sons of Confederate Veterans. We are located in beautiful Kennesaw, Georgia, about 30 minutes northwest of Atlanta.

Our organizational structure within the SCV is as follows:

Camp McDonald was founded in 1861 by Governor Joseph E. Brown and was located in Big Shanty (now Kennesaw) along the Western & Atlantic Railroad. The camp's mission was to train recruits for service in the defense of Georgia and the Confederate States of America. Numerous units trained at Camp McDonald, including the famous Phillips Legion and cadets from the Georgia Military Institute. The camp was destroyed by invading Yankees under General Sherman in 1864.
